The Republican Fisherman

A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."

The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.

She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be a Republican."

"I am," replied the man. "How did you know?"

"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me."

The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Democrat."

"I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?"

"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you're going. You have risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air, you made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but now, it is somehow my fault."

A Pakistani Teenage Christian Barely Escapes Death at the Hands of Her Own Family!

Diana's face must remain hidden for her own protection.

You can find Diana's story as well as many others at Crosswalk.

Diana grew up in a strict Islamic family in Pakistan. Her life was pretty typical until she met a girl named Mary who was a Christian. Now Diana is also a Christian and on the run.

When Diana's family learned that she had become a Christian, they repeatedly beat her and insisted she return to Islam. But Diana refused. She was then forced to a local canal where her uncle put a pistol to her head and gave her one last chance to return to Islam. Diana replied, "You can kill me if you want. I will not leave Christ."

It was then that Diana's uncle noticed an extremely poisonous black cobra swimming in the canal. Believing he could escape any prosecution for his niece's death, he threw her into the path of the cobra. He also knew she could not swim.

Diana miraculously escaped from the canal and is in hiding today. She is a new Christian but has already learned what it means to suffer for Christ. She recently told The Voice of the Martyrs, "Jesus was crucified for us. Can we not endure some of the same for Him?"

Islam is a prison with no way out. Once a person enters that prison, he or she cannot leave it alive.
For those of you who think this is an isolated case, or a GOP lie, let's look at what the Qur'an says:

"Then what is the matter with you that you are divided into two parties about the apostates? Allah has cast them back (to disbelief) because of what they have earned. Do you want to guide him whom Allah has made to go astray? And he whom Allah has made to go astray, you will never find for him any way (of guidance). They wish that you reject Faith, as they have rejected (Faith), and thus that you all become equal (like one another). So take not Aouliya (protectors or friends) from them, till they emigrate in the Way of Allah (to Mohammed). But if they turn back (from Islam), take (hold of) them and kill them wherever you find them, and take neither Aouliya (protectors or friends) nor helpers from them." (Surat An-Nisa 4:88,89)"

This verse means that if a person says the Islamic Shahada (creed): "I testify that there is no God but Allah, I testify that Mohammed is the Messenger of Allah," he cannot change his mind. If he does change his mind, he will be executed or beheaded as has happened many times in Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and other Islamic countries. Source.

ACLU Wants Suspected Terrorists Allowed Back Into U.S.

by Jay on 08-29-06 @ 3:36 pm
Filed under ACLU, War On Terror, News

From the NY Times we learn that once again the ACLU either doesn’t care or doesn’t have a brain when it comes to keeping the country safe. Whichever is the case they are actively undermining our security on a daily basis. This is just the latest example.

Federal authorities have prevented two relatives of a father and son convicted recently in a terrorism-related case from returning home to California from Pakistan unless they agree to be interviewed by the F.B.I.

It is unclear whether the men, Muhammad Ismail, 45, and his son Jaber, 18, have a direct connection to the terrorism case or if they have been caught up in circumstance.

The United States attorney’s office in Sacramento declined Monday to answer questions about the Ismails beyond confirming that the men had not been permitted to fly into the United States and that the Federal Bureau of Investigation wanted to question them.

The United States attorney, McGregor W. Scott, reiterated a comment he had made to The San Francisco Chronicle, which reported Saturday about the Ismails’ troubles.

“They’ve been given the opportunity to meet with the F.B.I. over there and answer a few questions, and they’ve declined to do that,” Mr. Scott said through a spokeswoman, Mary Wenger.

The Ismails live in Lodi, Calif., a small farming town south of Sacramento, where their relatives Umer Hayat and his son, Hamid, were arrested last summer as part of what federal prosecutors said was an investigation into terrorist links.

The Hayats are the only people to have been charged. Hamid Hayat, the nephew of Muhammad Ismail and the cousin of Jaber, was convicted in April of supporting terrorists by attending a training camp in Pakistan. Umer Hayat, in a deal reached with prosecutors after jurors deadlocked on terrorism charges, pleaded guilty in May to lying to the authorities about carrying $28,000 to Pakistan from California.

The Ismails discovered they were on the federal government’s no-fly list of people not allowed to enter the United States after they were refused permission to board a connecting flight in Hong Kong on April 21; they had been trying to return to California after several years in Pakistan, said Julia Harumi Mass of the American Civil Liberties Union of Northern California, who is representing them.

Who are we fighting against again? I thought it was the Islamofacists, but I appear to be only half right. The ACLU evidently represents terrorists and will fight for their "ABSOLUTE" rights.

Was Julia Harumi Mass dropped on her head?! These idiots have NO idea what kind of damage to our country they are underwritiing in the name of civil rights! This is not the 50's or the 60's anymore. There are real people bent on inflicting as much terror on this country at any cost, and the ACLU is doing what they can to insure success!

Illegal aliens linked to gang-rape wave

The crime epidemic no one will talk about?

A wave of illegal-immigrant gang rapes is sweeping the U.S. while public officials and law-enforcement authorities fear drawing the link, experts say.

Deborah Schurman-Kauflin, a Ph.D. researcher of violent crimes, told WorldNetDaily, "It appears as if there is a fear that if this is honestly discussed, people will hate all illegal immigrants. So there is silence. … But in being silent about the rapes and murders, it is as if the victims never even existed."

Schurman-Kauflin, who runs the Violent Crimes Institute in Atlanta, participated in a 12-month, in-depth study of illegal immigrants who committed sex crimes and murders from January 1999 through April 2006. The study found approximately 240,000 illegal-immigrant sex offenders reside in the United States – while 93 sex offenders and 12 serial sexual offenders come across U.S. borders illegally every day.

Schurman-Kauflin said, "Gang rapes by illegal immigrants appear to be gang related. Many of the cases I reviewed involved gang members. As part of being a cohesive group, they offend together. Inflicting brutal gang rapes brings them closer together as a group. It is a way to demonstrate their power. And it sends a message to anyone who dares to cross them."

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC told WND it now is tracking 12 gang rapes by illegal aliens within America's borders since Oct. 2004.

Well, isn't this just peachy! It gives me such a warm and fuzzy feeling to know that not only do we have to contend with the local idiots that can't live within the boundaries of the law, but the influx of criminals from other countries. Would a wall stop this? How about an electric fence? I saw a Nuclear Power Plant in Arizona the other day that I'm sure could provide a few hundred thousand volts of juice to dissuade would be crossers.

The safety and well being of my family is my primary responsibility, and the Federal government as well as every liberal bonehead breathing is hindering my job as husband and father to protect them. I resent that.

So, to future politicians: if you want my vote, you'd better support me in my God given responsibilities or get out'a my way. And you can go pound sand if you think immigrants have more or equal rights to me and my family.

Signed,
Tax Payer, Voter, and Legal Citizen of the United States of America.

Just a reminder about who and why we are fighting

Last year at UCLA, I debated a professor who argued that Israel and the Palestinians were moral equivalents. He is not alone (especially on college campuses) in his lack of understanding of the immoral nature of the Islamic enemies of America and Israel.
Thus it is important to remind people once again about the moral world inhabited by the people we are fighting, whom President George W. Bush calls the Islamic Fascists.

U.S. civil rights leader Jesse Jackson (L) meets Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal in Damascus August 28, 2006. Jackson, who is leading a group of Jewish, Muslim and Christian leaders on a humanitarian mission to the Middle East, has met exiled leaders of Hamas in Syria to try and mediate a prisoners' exchange between the Palestinian movement and Israel, a high level Hamas member said on Monday. QUALITY FROM SOURCE REUTERS/

Societal examples:

-- The Islamic Republic of Sudan, in its attempt to force Arab/Muslim rule on the largely non-Arab and non-Muslim population of southern Sudan, has led to the killing of well above 1 million Christians and animists and black (i.e., non-Arab) Muslims, in addition to the widespread enslavement, rape and torture of those people.

-- No major international Arab or Muslim organization has condemned the Sudanese government's mass murders that border on genocide.

-- The leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly denied the Holocaust and repeatedly called for the annihilation of Israel. As the 6 million Jews of Israel do not plan a mass exodus from their ancient and modern homeland, such annihilation would in fact mean another Holocaust.

-- The holy center of Islam, the Muslim country where the holiest Muslim sites are situated, is Saudi Arabia. That country bans the practice of any religion other than Islam, amputates hands of thieves, does not allow women to drive a car, mandates what women wear outside of their homes and is the only country in the world to feature a weapon on its national flag. Women were treated considerably better and had more civil rights in ancient Rome, not to mention ancient Israel, than women living in the holiest cities of Islam today.

-- Virtually every Islam-based country decrees the death penalty for any Muslim who converts to another religion.

In other words, every country that calls itself "Islamic" is morally inferior to just about every country in North America, South America, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, almost every Asian country and many African countries.

Now we have "the great civil rights leader Jesse Jackson" meeting with the very individuals who are in positions of leadership of the Islamofacists. He must be related to Jimmah Carter!

It occured to me this morning, the Liberal left, in critisizing President Bush, and demmanding we pull out of this "Unjust War" would seem to be saying Human Rights really don't matter... Anywhere. Granted, the war in Iraq isn't being fought for human rights per-say, but for the simple reason that during the speech given by President Bush September 20, 2001, the President stated "any Country that supports terrorists will be considered an enemy of the United States and the free world". We need to clean up, and finish strong, and get ready for the next one.

Unbelievable post stolen from Bushwhack!

Bushy posted this, and after watching the short Hannity and Colmes, I went balistic!

An email I received today really pissed me off, Here it is.Friends, Countrymen,In June 2005 Hannity and Colmes interviewed a fellow named Mike Crook, who ran a website called Foresake the Troops. I highlighted the interview on my own site, left a few choice words of my own, and left it at that.

Well here we are over a year later, and out of the blue Mr. Crook is slapping me with libel and is also trying to get my blog host to punish me for it! I, of course, shared the entire debacle with my readers:

So I checked the links and found out this idiot Mike Crook exists? And is allowed to walk and breathe free due to the efforts of our military. He chooses to insult our Military from behind a computer and while hiding behind lawyers. He doesn’t realize that his views are hazardous to his health and the Lawyers at the ACLU can’t protect him from slightly deranged individuals with different views….I’m just saying…Be careful Mike, I’d hate for something bad to happen to you just because you exercised your right to be a moron. Visit The Mad Pigeon and lend him your support.

“A man who had just been released from jail was sent right back Monday after police say he picked the wrong store to attempt a robbery.
When he got to the counter he asked the female clerk for a carton of cigarettes. But after he received them, he walked out without paying. The clerk told another female clerk who followed him outside the doors and told him to stop. Instead, the man turned around and punched the clerk in the face, Quezada said. Source

Former Marine takes down man after clerk is hit continues…

When the man saw Sjo-strom coming at him, he took a swing at him, too. But the attacker quickly found out he was no match for the bulky Sjo-strom. Sjostrom is a former Marine who taught hand-to-hand combat and currently teaches a course on Russian kettlebells, or the martial art of strength training, at the Sports Mall in Murray.

“I grabbed him, threw him on the ground, put his hands behind his back, sat on him and waited for the cops to come,” Sjostrom said. In just a matter of a few seconds Sjostrom had the man pinned. When the man realized he had no chance, Sjostrom said he became “pretty quiet.”

“Anybody would have done the same thing,” he said. “Another guy in the store said he was in the Army and asked if I needed any help.”With a grin, Sjostrom replied to the man, “The Marines got here first.”

3rd Half?

OK, I didn't post on Tuesday, but with just cause.

Monday started out with a 0400 wake up call to get cleaned up after a hot ‘walk about’ in a crowded Disneyland on Sunday. It was an interesting day in the park as it was full of People dressed in “GOTH” outfits. I misunderstood and wore a GOLF shirt instead...

Mrs. Gawfer took a little more time getting ready than I anticipated, so we left the house for the airport about 15 minutes later than planned. No sweat, on the freeway still ahead of commute traffic... until we encountered an accident stoppage. Dang! Get off the freeway and follow the guy ahead of me. Yeah, he looks like he knows where he's going (lemming). Going north from the 60 on a road I was unfamiliar with, I figured I'd eventually run into the 10. Dang! A tee in the road. Mrs. Gawfer, after reading Thomas Bros. map says turn left. The road ends up turning into Airport Blvd. (She's good.) We arrive at the airport in time to work our way thru security and go strait to the gate for immediate boarding. Whew! Couldn't sit together but it was only a 45 minute flight.

After arriving in Phoenix, I remember that I forgot the car rental confirmation, and I wasn't even sure the rental company, but I took a guess and got it right. Alamo. We upgraded from a midsize to an Infinity I35 for an additional $4.00 and I was happy we did. We also rented a Navigation system for $10.00, but it had us going 180° in the wrong direction resulting in me being 1 hour late to my appointment, but I made it.

After my appointment, it was north to Prescott, AZ where we saw Doc Holiday's hotel and Wyatt Erp's house. That was cool. We toured the town and enjoyed the 20° temperature difference from Phoenix which was 108°.

On the way back down the mountain, we watched an awesome electrical storm and subsequent monsoon creating clouds of steam when the rain hit the road, and enjoyed another 20° temperature drop. The overall Temperature swing was 42° in about a 4 hour window.

We arrived back at the Airport about 1 1/2 hours before or scheduled flight, which gave us time to return the rental, check in and get a quick bite. Then the announcement came: "Because of the electrical storm, all inbound flights are in a holding pattern, and ground radio communications have been suspended. Planes on the ground are also unable to refuel at this time." Dang! Our 7:45 departure time was delayed 2 hours which got Mrs. Gawfer and I home near midnight. After a 0500 wake up, and a day full of putting out fires at the office, I decided to wait until now to post.

My day with Mrs. Gawfer was an excellent adventure indeed, and we were able to see a part of our country that was new to us, and has a beauty unique unto itself.

2nd half of the Tahoe Story

Arriving at Ontario CA Airport was interesting. I was greeted by several police and California National Guard carrying older model M-16s, and adorned in full vest and utility belt. Quite reassuring and I even gave a HOOAH! to one Soldier who gratefully acknowledged the sentiment. Check in was easy enough as I had downloaded and printed my boarding pass the night before. TSA was also on hand to perform random searches as the travelers were boarding. They went after all the "high threat" passengers like an elderly woman carrying a purse, and a young pretty blond that smiled a little too long at one of the soldiers. It would be nice if the middle eastern gentleman would have been checked instead of the elderly woman though.
My ID was checked 3 times prior to boarding... Redundancy is good.

My return flight was a little different. Sacramento had no National guard, but security was supplemented by CHP with dogs(?) roaming about the terminals. I had good confidence when I saw them. However, tired and cranky after an energetic evening of football drafting, trash talking and cards till 2 AM, I was not in the mood to be called aside and searched by a TSA rep who looked like he couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag. So when I was singled out and asked to open my bag, I casually made two statements. The first being "Oh yeah, I look like a terrorist alright"... Bushy can attest to this, I am a middle aged blond haired (slight grey) and blue eyed American boy whose a few pounds over weight (no wise cracks bushy) and woody woodpecker tattooed on my arm.
My second comment was "why the heck don't you knuckleheads profile?! That smooth looking redhead in front of me didn't fit the profile anymore than I do?!" No response. Obviously, he's not paid to think, just do.
Other than that, the trip was totally uneventful.
Off to Phoenix tomorrow with Mrs. Gawfer.

Back from Lake Tahoe

My buds and I have had a private Fantasy Football League for ten years and decided to celebrate this year by having our annual draft at Lake Tahoe.

I am originally from Northern California and have a special fondness for mountains, pine trees and the Lake, so it was a real treat to once again breathe fresh mountain air that I couldn't see.

Anyway, after a few sneaky trades (by others), the draft got underway. My draft position was 5, but I relinquished my first round pick to position number 6 in exchange for my bud's third round pick which was the first pick in that round. All were expecting me to pick up Egerin James as the first three picks were Larry Johnson, Sean Alexander and Ladanian Tomlinson. The guy who picked forth kinda threw a few guys with Stephen Jackson, but the guy who got my 5th pick choose E.J. That was OK though because my intent all along was to pick Peyton Manning who I got. I followed up with Chad Johnson, Antonio Gates and finally Carnell Williams. My overall team will be a good scoring team with 3 out of 4 of my first picks being tier 1 players.

But enough with the technical stuff. The point of this post was to let you all know that I've been busy this weekend, and probably won't post again until Tuesday. Tomorrow is Disneyland for the day, and Monday, my wife and I are heading to Phoenix for the day. Whew!

I hope everyone is happy and healthy this weekend.

SPIEGEL INTERVIEW WITH JIMMY CARTER

"The US and Israel Stand Alone"

Former US president Jimmy Carter speaks with DER SPIEGEL about the danger posed to American values by George W. Bush, the difficult situation in the Middle East and Cuba's ailing Fidel Castro.

AP
Former US president Jimmy Carter: "I don't think that Israel has any legal or moral justification for their massive bombing of the entire nation of Lebanon."

SPIEGEL: Mr. Carter, in your new book you write that only the American people can ensure that the US government returns to the country's old moral principles. Are you suggesting that the current US administration of George W. Bush of acting immorally?

Carter: There's no doubt that this administration has made a radical and unpressured departure from the basic policies of all previous administrations including those of both Republican and Democratic presidents...

... SPIEGEL: You also mentioned the hatred for the United States throughout the Arab world which has ensued as a result of the invasion of Iraq. Given this circumstance, does it come as any surprise that Washington's call for democracy in the Middle East has been discredited?
Carter: No, as a matter of fact, the concerns I exposed have gotten even worse now with the United States supporting and encouraging Israel in its unjustified attack on Lebanon.

SPIEGEL: But wasn't Israel the first to get attacked?

Carter: I don't think that Israel has any legal or moral justification for their massive bombing of the entire nation of Lebanon. What happened is that Israel is holding almost 10,000 prisoners, so when the militants in Lebanon or in Gaza take one or two soldiers, Israel looks upon this as a justification for an attack on the civilian population of Lebanon and Gaza. I do not think that's justified, no...

This is what a meant by Friendly Fire in one of my previous posts. One expects the enemy to fire shots, but when "friends" like this begin to confuse and distort the truth, who needs enemies!?

I don't believe there has ever been a Former president as anti-american as President Carter... EVER! Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe his comments are as bad if not worse than the Dixie Chicks spouting their anti-american/anti- Bush propoganda in London a couple of years ago.

Reject The U.N. Blog

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

As many of you know, I dislike the U.N. and what it stands for. So, when Texas Fred approached me with the offer to be a contributor to this new blog, I jumped at the chance... not very high of course because I was sitting down. Anyway, the following is a recent post from Fred regarding the blog. If you are so inclined, get on the blog roll and visit frequently.

http://texasfred.net/?p=311

OK, this Reject the U.N. thing is ‘taking off’, and I am very happy to see that…

I have talked to Rich from Isn’t It Rich , Rob from American and Proud of it. and Gary from Gawfer and our intention is to make this a “TEAM” blog much the same way as another fine Blog and Blog Roll, Stop The ACLU has done with their wonderful work…

Our intent is to make the Blog Roll grow of course, but more importantly, to expose EVERY act of nonsense and abuse we can find concerning the United Nations…

We would appreciate all the support you can give us, putting up a post in YOUR blog letting YOUR readers know what we’re doing, joining the Blog Roll and having it set in a conspicuous area of your blog, that would be as much help as we could ask for, we’re not looking for money, this isn’t a ‘commercial’ venture, it’s a labor of HATE, hate for the U.N., what it does, how it does it and what it TRULY stands for…

If you’re a really decent writer and would like to contribute an article or opinion as a ‘guest blogger’, or if you’d like to become a ‘team member’, send me an email and we’ll discuss that possibility…

And any articles you can point us to would also be greatly appreciated as well, you can never have too many sources and our readers are wonderful sources of information…

Thanks, and PLEASE, support this venture any way you can…

Girl On The Right Blog: Hezbollah rally in Toronto

While reviewing my site meter this morning, I found a hit from this blog. Girl on the right is a Torie blog from Canada, and she put up around 15 pictures of a pro Hezbollah rally, and a counter protest that took place in Toronto on Friday.

See photos Here

This totally blew me away! Right here in North America, Canada specifically where Hezbollah is considered a terrorist organization, a Hez flag shows up, and the RCMP's don't arrest the guy!

I don't think it will be long before we see this crap in the lower 48. The question is what are we gonna do when it shows up?

There May be a Hamas, but There are no Palestinians

Stolen from Seaspook

This guy is a riot, but there's a lot of truth to what he has to say about a serious subject.
Humorist Larry Miller in the Daily Standard:

The Palestinians want their own country. There's just one thing about that: There are no Palestinians. It's a made up word. Israel was called Palestine for two thousand years. Like "Wiccan," "Palestinian" sounds ancient but is really a modern invention. Before the Israelis won the land in war, Gaza was owned by Egypt, and there were no "Palestinians" then, and the West Bank was owned by Jordan, and there were no "Palestinians" then. As soon as the Jews took over and started growing oranges as big as basketballs, what do you know, say hello to the "Palestinians," weeping for their deep bond with their lost "land" and "nation." So for the sake of honesty, let's not use the word "Palestinian" any more to describe these delightful folks, who dance for joy at our deaths until someone points out they're being taped. Instead, let's call them what they are: "Other Arabs From The Same General Area Who Are In Deep Denial About Never Being Able To Accomplish Anything In Life And Would Rather Wrap Themselves In The Seductive Melodrama Of Eternal Struggle And Death."

I know that's a bit unwieldy to expect to see on CNN. How about this, then: "Adjacent Jew-Haters."

Well, I believe that about sums up Gaza and the West Bank...

IREY TO MURTHA: MUST YOU DEMAND AN ISRAELI SURRENDER, TOO?

http://www.irey.com/

(MONONGAHELA, August 9) -- Washington County Commissioner and Pennsylvania 12th district Republican Congressional nominee Diana Irey -- continuing her focus on Jack Murtha's stated desire for Israel to lay down its arms and stop defending itself against attacks from Marine-murdering Hezbollah terrorists in southern Lebanon -- today released the following statement:

"One week ago, Jack Murtha said he wanted an immediate cease-fire between Israel and Hezbollah. He has said nothing since then to indicate he has rethought his position.

"So I have a question for him today: Jack, isn't it enough that you're demanding an AMERICAN surrender to terrorists in the Middle East? Must you demand an ISRAELI surrender, too?

"Because make no mistake about it -- in calling for Israel to lay down its arms, you are asking a trusted ally to acknowledge defeat at the hands of Iran.

I haven't heard of this young lady, but it is clear she is threatening to whoop Jack Murtha, and take his Congressional Seat with a clear and concise message of zero tolerance for Anti-American politics.
I'll be very interested in the outcome of her race.

Clinton Plays with the Media to bolster her image

Last week, you may recall the blistering criticism Senator Clinton issued to Sec Def Rumsfeld. Later that day, she used the opportunity to ‘call’ for his resignation. Whatever, it was clearly a political stunt to bolster her position with the party as one who does not support the war on terror that is being fought in Iraq.

RobertNovak
"Clinton's performance was more a campaign tactic than a Senate hearing procedure, trying to immunize her from anti-Iraq voter rage aimed at Sen. Joseph Lieberman. Clinton planned the confrontation, picking and editing Rumsfeld quotations to upgrade her anti-war credentials... "

MediaMatters
"Summary: Several news outlets portrayed Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's harsh criticism of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld as a purely political maneuver to "find the exact middle" in the Democratic Party or to position herself for a potential 2008 presidential run."

Jed Babbin, who is an excellent thinker and source of information outlined this in his article on real clear politcs today:

August 10, 2006
The Contrived News Story
By Jed Babbin

Excerpt:
...Defense Secretary Rumsfeld was scheduled to testify on Iraq in a closed Senate hearing on Thursday afternoon. But closed sessions don't produce television sound bites. Armed Services Committee Chairman John Warner was somehow importuned into holding a morning hearing and asking Rumsfeld to testify at that one, too.

Rumsfeld declined and, at his Wednesday press conference, he was hit with planted questions asked by Reuters and CNN, about why he was refusing his obligation to testify. He answered that he'd considered testifying but thought one session that day would be enough. Then came the contrivance. The Associated Press quickly published a story by Lolita Baldor and Devlin Barrett titled, "Rumsfeld Snub of War Hearing Draws Fire," in which the first sentence said that Rumsfeld, "...essentially said he was too busy to testify at a public hearing....raising a new furor on Capitol Hill over the three-year-old conflict." But the "furor" was only in the minds of the AP reporters and editors. Rumsfeld never said he was too busy to bother with the Senate. The story quoted only Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy.

Then came the hearing with Sen. Clinton reading a long, strident statement to Rumsfeld, and his reply that shot down Clinton's arguments seriatim. Rumsfeld had answered so well that Clinton left the room deflated. But AP reported it as Rumsfeld retreating, unable to answer Clinton's onslaught.

That story, "Sen. Clinton rips Rumsfeld over Iraq decisions," was another exercise in spin, not reporting. Devlin Barrett - one of the reporters who'd written the first story - wrote this one like a Hillary campaign commercial. "The showdown between Clinton, a potential candidate in 2008, and Rumsfeld, the public face of the Bush administration's war effort, included the strongest criticism of the Iraq war she has made to date...The defense secretary seemed briefly stunned by the intensity of her attack..." Count the freighted words in those two stories: furor, showdown, stunned. None of them were true. None of this would have gotten past an assistant city editor twenty years ago. I called the AP editors - night editor Robert Glass and later bureau chief Sandra Johnson - for interviews on talk radio and for print, but Glass shuffled me off to another editor (Alan Fram) and neither Fram nor Johnson responded to my messages.

These people - supposedly in the truth business - are part of Team Clinton.

As I have said before, being prior military influences what I say and how I talk about the leadership of this Country. I choose not to criticize the administration that is leading our Country for this simple fact: “a house divided against its self cannot stand”. I fully understand decisions of great importance are made on a daily basis, some of which are wrong. That is unfortunate because in many circumstances good men and women die. However, everyone knows hind sight is 20/20, and anyone can be an "arm chair quarterback". Hopefully, the leadership learns from their mistakes, and adapts to and overcomes the enemy.

I personally believe President Bush and his administration are doing the best jobs they can under the circumstances. I fully believe Senators Clinton, Kerry or any other talking head would most certainly flounder and fail as the leader of this nation. I also support Secretary Rumsfeld. It is clear that he too, has made errors, but I believe he is doing far more good than bad, and his errors are not malicious or intentional. It is one thing to dodge the fiery darts of the enemy, but when your friends and allies start shooting at you from behind as you are leading your country into battle, it is hard to stay focused on the enemy.

With that being said, I do not believe President Bush is God, but I do believe he is where he is for such a time as this. And though I do not agree with all of his policies, I will choose to stand and fight for him and for my Country during this time of war. I will also continue to support our troops and their efforts to defeat the enemies of our country.

Nasrallah Vows 'Graveyard for Israel' if Fighting Continues

Wednesday, August 09, 2006
FoxNews.com

JERUSALEM — Hezbollah chief Sheik Hassan Nasrallah warned that southern Lebanon will become a "graveyard" if Israel continues its attacks and attempts to occupy the region.

"You won't be able to stay in our land, and if you come in, we'll force you out, we will turn our precious southern land into a graveyard for the occupying Zionists," Nasrallah said, speaking on al-Manar television, the official Hezbollah broadcast station.

Is this a threat of NBC warfare, or a sobbing plea to stop?

Nasrallah also warned all Arabs to leave the Israeli port city of Haifa so the guerrilla organization could step up attacks without fear of shedding the blood of fellow Muslims.

"I have a special message to the Arabs of Haifa, to your martyrs and to your wounded. I call you to leave this city. I hope you do this. ... Please leave so we don't shed your blood, which is our blood," he said in a taped television address carried on virtually all major television channels in the region.

Since when does ANY Islamic organization give a crap about anyone but themselves, including other Muslims? This is nothing more than a meager attempt to feign power.

In an about face, the Hezbollah leader said he now welcomes Lebanon's offer to send 15,000 soldiers to the Israeli border.

"If the government is ready to send the 15,000 soldiers to go through this region, this will help Lebanon and the friends of Lebanon," the radical Shiite cleric said. "This will put some pressure to amend the draft resolution and will open the way to stop the aggression against Lebanon."

Ahh, now we begin to see a crack in the armour of Hezbollah. He's crying like a bully who just got whooped and needs help. You gonna ask Syria to come and fight? LET THEM COME!

Fed Takes Pause, Leaves Rate Unchanged

Aug 8, 3:01 PM EDT

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Federal Reserve on Tuesday left a key interest rate unchanged, marking at least a temporary pause in what had been the longest unbroken stretch of Fed rate increases in recent history.

The Fed's rate-setting committee voted 9 to 1 to leave the federal funds rate, the interest banks charge on overnight loans, at 5.25 percent. It was the first time the Fed had met and not raised rates in more than two years.

He charged that the United States and Israel "organized and planned military action" in Lebanon. Israeli military officials have stated several times that Syria is openly arming Hizbullah terrorists with anti-tank rockets and Syrian-made missiles.

Bush Presses Comprehensive U.N. Action

Source: MYWAY.COM

CRAWFORD, Texas (AP) - President Bush on Monday said he anticipates that Hezbollah and Israel will not agree with all aspects of a Mideast cease-fire resolution but said "we all recognize that the violence must stop."

The president said the United States and its allies were pressing for a comprehensive solution that would restore Lebanon's sovereignty and provide a lasting peace.

Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice spoke about the Mideast during a meeting with reporters at his Texas ranch. Rice is expected to go to the United Nations for deliberations on twin resolutions for a cease-fire and the establishment of a peacekeeping force.

She called the resolutions "a reasonable basis that I think both sides can accept" once details are worked out. Bush said the goal was to find consensus quickly on a resolution calling for a cessation of violence.

"I understand that both parties aren't going to agree with all aspects of the resolution," the president said. "But the intent of the resolutions is to strengthen the Lebanese government so Israel has got a partner in peace."

At the United Nations, the United States and France delayed action on the cease-fire measure to consider demands from Lebanon and Arab states over the withdrawal of Israeli troops.

I am still inclined to believe the only conversation that should to be occuring is between Lebanon and Israel with the total content focusing on how they are going to team up with each other to remove the cyst known as Hezbollah from their butts. If they need outside surgical help, the U.S. is available. Otherwise, We, France and the Arab states need to butt out and let Isreal clean house!

Iran's smuggling of uranium

Shipment of bomb-making material
from 'closed' Congo site intercepted

Source: Worldnetdaily

Tanzanian customs officials have uncovered an Iranian smuggling operation transporting large quantities of bomb-making uranium from the same mines in the Congo that provided the nuclear material for the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima sixty-one years ago today, reports the London Sunday Times.

A United Nations report, outlining the interception last October, said there is "no doubt" the smuggled uranium-238 came from mines in the Democratic Republic of the Congo's mineral-rich Katanga province.

The Shinkolobwe uranium mine was officially closed and its main shafts covered with concrete in 1961, before the country became independent from Belgium, but U.N. investigators have reported evidence of ongoing mining operations.

The amount of evidence continues to grow indicating Iran is closing in on Nuclear capibilities. IMO, if Iran is allowed to fulfill their desire of Nuc's, our problems will grow exponentially. It won't be 'just another country with nucs', it will be a country, bent on the world's conversion to Islam... at ALL COSTS.

Slightly off topic...
While writing this oped, it occurs to me that the reason we haven't heard a great deal from the Muslims in America, is because they view themselves in a win-win situation. If things stay the same, they are American, and have nothing to worry about. Freedom to worship and all. But if the 'Axis of Evil' overtakes this Country and the world, they have nothing to worry about either because they practice the Muslim faith. (However, the problem of inner faith violence and murder would soon follow. Historically, Muslims can't even get along with each other, much less other faiths. So much for the 'religion of peace'.)

I personally see the 'silent' American Muslims as cowardly and traitorous. With the previously mentioned mindset, the Country that provides them the freedom to worship in the manner they choose is ultimately insignificant to their future, and therefore, unnecessary to defend. Given this, their quiet apathy can then be seen as afirmation to the overthrow of the our government, but would result in the elimination of the very freedom that they currently enjoy.

LTC Randolph C. White Jr. Delivers Infantry Graduation Speech

OK, folks. This is about the best speech next to the Gipper I think I have ever heard given. I was so inspired, I thought (for .33 seconds) about reinlisting.

Truly, LTC White made some very powerful statements, and it reminded me of why I am so proud to be an American. We are the greatest nation on this earth because we offer hope, and freedom.

For my friends that visit Gawfer from other countries, please don't be offended. Simply, there is no other Country on this planet that so many people are trying to get to. We are a relatively young nation and are not perfect, but we learn from our mistakes, and are better for it.

ACLU of Maryland Declares Victory as High Court Unanimously Rules Pregnancy

Prosecutions Are Illegal (8/3/2006)
Via ACLU website:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
CONTACT: media@aclu.org

BALTIMORE, MD – The American Civil Liberties Union of Maryland applauded today’s decision by the Maryland Court of Appeals unanimously ruling that the reckless endangerment statute does not apply to women who take drugs while pregnant.

Oh, this is priceless...

“The ACLU of Maryland is heartened that the high court agrees that prosecuting drug-dependent pregnant women is not what the state of Maryland considers good policy,” said David Rocah, staff attorney for the ACLU of Maryland. “We believe that using criminal law to regulate a pregnant woman’s conduct on the theory that it might harm a fetus or her newborn child is counterproductive, illegal, and, ultimately bad for children and society.”

(Bolding is my doing)

In reaching its decision in Cruz v. State of Maryland, the Maryland Court of Appeals stressed that the General Assembly has consistently rejected efforts to allow criminal prosecutions of women for drug use while pregnant because the approach to the problem is not good public policy. The high court ruled that state law does not support such criminal prosecutions and reversed the conviction of Kelly Cruz, a Talbot County woman who was convicted in August 2005 of reckless endangerment because she gave birth to a drug-exposed baby.

After serving in the United States Navy, I decided to attend college and study Fire Science. I spent four years working as a full time Firefighter for a local City Department, and spent a lot of time in hospitals, including Children's Hospital in Oakland, CA.

Children's Hospital has a special ward in their ICU for drug babies, or babies born to women who use and abuse drugs. There is no MIGHT about it. It is heart wrenching to see these 1 1/2 -2 pound babies lying in incubators with IV's and oxygen tents covering their little bodies. And knowing that if these little people do get to go home, they'll likely be going to the very environment that damaged their little bodies and minds to begin with. Yes, several of these children that do live not only have physical, but mental developmental issues as well.

So, thank you again ACLU, for insuring that the children who already suffer from life long health disabilities are insured company in their infirmities.

Please, join the ranks of STOP THE ACLU, and make an impact.

Judges in Egypt: Scrap peace deal with Israel

Egyptian judges ask government to cancel peace accord with Israel; Strike scheduled for Sunday

Roee Nahmias

Judges in Egypt called upon the government to dissolve its peace agreement with Israel, on the grounds that it is inconceivable for Egypt to coexist peaceably with Israel while the IDF operates in Lebanon. The judges expressed support of popular resistance against Israeli
advances, which, in their eyes, is the only way to protect the Arab ummah (greater nation).

In a statement issued Thursday, Egyptian judges censured "the barbaric Israeli attacks on the Palestinian and Lebanese people." They also warned of American attempts "to rearrange the Middle East, based on the 'Greater Middle East' plan, via Israeli pride and American hegemony, in whose eyes the lives of hundreds of Arab children are not worth the wounds of one Israeli child."

Hizbullah threats to fire rockets at Tel Aviv

IDF: Threat to hit Tel Aviv taken seriously

SOURCE

Home Front Command chief, Major General Yitzhak Girshon, told reporters in kibbutz Sasa in the Galilee that the army has "dealt in a special manner with the Gulf of Haifa, so that danger to civilians is minimal, if at all. Our situation is much better than at the beginning of the war."

He stressed the issue of hazardous materials saying measures have been taken to prevent a disaster.

"Despite the surprise, we took all necessary measures to minimize harm to civilians by hazardous materials. We are working with the Ministry of the Environment which is responsible for protecting hazardous substances and we would be able to contain any event in a couple of minutes," he said.

He said preparations have been made in the Tel Aviv area in anticipation of possible missile attack. "As for residents of the center, we are taking the threats seriously. Our measures are based on a warning siren so we've instructed residents to locate protected places," he added.

Being former military, the one thing that makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up is the thought of NBC (Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical) Warfare. We had special training in boot camp and throughout my enlistment ranging from avoidance training to emergency injections.

I continually hear criticism of the President's policy regarding WMD's,

"whereas if there is a 1% chance they exist, we must consider them real, and make every effort to destroy them."

Those who have served and are currently serving can attest to this fact regarding WMD's: “a little bit goes a long way”. And when discussing Biological weapons such as small pox, there is a period of two to three days between exposure/infection and signs and symptoms. That period of time is sufficient to spread the disease across this or any other nation. So the president's policies regarding WMD’s seem very adequate in my opinion.

Let us hope and pray these nutcases known as Hezbollah don't take the war to this level, because there will only be one alternative left for Israel... and I don’t care for ‘mushrooms either’.

Calling All Bloggers - 9/11 Posts Needed

D. Challener Croe is looking for 2.996 bloggers to each write about a victim on 9/11 in time for September 11th this year.

The 2,996 Project

The idea is simple, but powerful: have a special tribute for each victim of 9/11, with each tribute being created by a different blogger. We started 2,996 Project to coordinate the creation of the tributes, and that's what this site is all about. Here you can sign up to make a tribute yourself, on your blog (we'll randomly assign a victim to you). You can also browse or search through either the victims that have already been assigned, or those that have not -- and you can get pointers to more information on all of them...

And from the FAQ:

...I hope that by having 2,996 of us write a tribute to these people that we will each learn about our victims. We will burn into our own brains the details of their lives and come to know more about them than we do about the monsters who took their lives. I can say that after doing my own research I will never forget the name of my victim...

Analysis: Preparing a strategy for the 'Day After'

Most of us expect that a cease-fire agreement will be signed and that the hostilities in Lebanon and Israel will end immediately. What a pity that these expectations will never be fulfilled.

Fire never "ceases" in the Middle East. There are not enough firefighters to extinguish the fire.
The agreement will be signed by Lebanon, Israel and the UN. The dissenters - Hizbullah and Syria, which will not be partners in the cease-fire - will not be responsible for implementing it. Therefore, they will continue to cooperate in regrouping, rebuilding and re-equipping Hizbullah for the next campaign.

See entire article Here.

This is absolutely true. Hezbollah is not a Country, but a terrorist organization that has NO Accountability to anyone. They are a band of fanatics that justify their behavior by twisted idiology that dates back several thousand years.

Israel needs to hit them so hard, so fast, so continuously, that their spirit and their will is broken. But will Israel have the courage to do what is necessary, or will they draw back, bowing to the political pressure from the U.N.? Only time will tell.

Hizballah's Treasure from Yoni the Blogger

By Yoni the Blogger

I just found out a fact that I had not known. If we remember back to the start of this war Hizballah came across the border and attacked an Israeli patrol of two Hummers killing 8 soldiers kidnapping two.

The next day Israel put a tank across the border which hit a huge anti tank IED, which killed the four man crew. Israel was not able to rescue all bodies of the crew, due to heavy fighting and the bodies being trapped in the ruble of the tank.

After Israel was forced out of the area, Hizballah surrounded the tank. Hizballah terrorist then cut off parts from the bodies i.e. arms, legs, heads to hold these body parts to exert pressure on Israel in addition to holding the two soldiers.

The west must understand the nature of the enemy in order for a victory to be achieved.

Another warm and fuzzy example of how "the Religion of Peace" behaves. Just makes you wanna run up and give 'em big hug!

Senate votes to put Mount Soledad cross in federal hands

By Dana Wilkie
COPLEY NEWS SERVICE

5:30 p.m. August 1, 2006

WASHINGTON – With a speed and decisiveness that surprised some, the Senate on Tuesday approved a plan to transfer the land beneath the Mount Soledad war memorial to federal control in an effort to avoid a court-ordered removal of the cross that stands there.

The Senate's unanimous vote sent the cross-transfer plan to President Bush for his expected signature. It creates what some consider an entirely new dynamic in the 17-year effort to save the cross, but which others say is a hopeless attempt to preserve a symbol on city land that courts have said unconstitutionally favors one religion over others.

SOURCE

Well, well, well.
It appears that the Senate has fallen off the 'Stupid Wagon' and made a decision that reflects the Majority and not some special interest. It may just be a tease, I know, but I am still hopeful that they'll remember who they represent.

PAT DOWNS IN NFL STADIUMS CHALLENGED BY FAN AND ACLU

Patdown searches by football stadium security are being challenged, called violation of fans' rights.» Watch video

Four years ago, the FBI issued an alert because they had seized a couple of PC's from people in Afghanistan who were tied with terrorist groups. The PC's were found to have 'images' [schematics] of the RCA dome in Indianapolis and the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis.

Gordon Johnston says he thinks it’s unreasonable to search every man, woman, child, baby, handicapped person (they obviously don't fall into one of the previously mentioned categories) and old people in the name of safety.

ACLU Attorney Becky Steele says she objects to the "mass suspisionless (is that a word?) searching of everybody without any reason".

Let me reiterate- Four years ago, the FBI issued an alert because they had seized a couple of PC's from people in Afghanistan who were tied with terrorist groups. The PC's were found to have 'images' [schematics] of the RCA dome in Indianapolis and the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis.

Almost 5 years ago 2996 Americans went to work for the last time.

And these IDIOTS declare “THERE IS NO REASON”. What dimension of reality do these people exist in!?

It is an inconvenience to be searched, I agree. But it is absolutely necessary in light of today's ongoing war against terrorism. Waiting until they "Make their move" doesn't cut it anymore, because even if they only succeed halfway, hundreds if not thousands of Americans will die... AGAIN!!!

Football season starts in just a few weeks, and this needs to be resolved before hundreds of thousands of people a exposed to more unnecessary risks!
