IDF hack Hizballah TV

Source: Yoni the blogger

One of the unknown facts is that Israel has a computer hacking unit. A number of years ago a young Israeli hacked into the most secure computer files of the FBI. When he tried out for the computer warfare unit he didn't make the cut. Instead he became a soldier in Golani.

Today this unit of the IDF hacked into al-Manar TV the TV of Hizballah.

Shown on the screen was the face of Nasrallah with the following three messages,

Nasrallah your time is up,

soon you will not be with us any more.

Your days are numbered.

Maybe just maybe the political leadership is starting to turn of parts of the IDF loose to work.

Oh, those sneaky guys are playing games with Hezbollah now... Next they'll putting a Groucho Nose on Nasrallah.

Iran forces urged to prepare to hit Israel

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Source

Iran's hardline forces should get ready to take revenge on Israel and the United States for the offensive on Lebanon, the head of the Revolutionary Guards was quoted as saying on Sunday.

"The Basij and Revolutionary Guards should prepare to get even with the Zionists and Americans," Yahya Rahim-Safavi was quoted as telling Islamic militiamen by the conservative Fars news agency.

The Basij are volunteer Islamic militiamen.

"The timing of the this will be announced by the leader," he added.

An Israeli air strike killed 54 civilians, including 37 children in the southern Lebanese village of Qana on Sunday, the bloodiest single attack since Israel's 19-day-old war on Lebanese Hizbollah guerrillas began.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards are historically close to Hizbollah and were deployed in south Lebanon during the 1980s. Mostafa Chamran, spiritual father of the Guards, forged his reputation fighting in Lebanon.

The Basij and Revolutionary Guards are directly answerable to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Although Iran funded and armed Hizbollah in the 1980s, it has insisted recently its support is mainly moral and political.

However, many sources have said Iranian arms are being used against Israeli civilian and military targets.

An Israeli military source has said an Iranian-made C802 radar-guided land-to-sea missile with a range of 60 miles (95 km) hit and badly damaged a ship during Israel's offensive against Lebanon.

Hizbollah said it fired "Raad (Thunder) 2" and "Raad 3" rockets at a rail depot in Haifa. Raad missiles are Iranian.

Israel's army said it destroyed an Iranian-made Zelzal missile with range of between 74 and 99 miles before it was launched.

They go? We go! Any questions?

We first saw this video in 2004, and blogged it here: Video of Palestinian Terrorists in UN Ambulances.

Here’s the background:

[This is a] Reuters video shot on May 11, 2004, the day that an IDF APC was blown up. For some reason it was not aired on the media that day, or for 2 weeks thereafter, until Israel’s channel 10 aired it two days ago.

Any Questions why the IDF is shooting at the U.N.?

This is interesting. A fire was started yesterday in San Diego Co, CA. As you view the data, you will notice that the source of this fire is Human.

Now, if the source would have been young children playing with fireworks, or a vehicle accident, or even lightening strikes, this would be all over the Lame Stream Media. But what was perviously posted on the CDF website, then subsequently removed within the last couple of hours is that investigators believe this fire was started by an illegal camp fire by illegal immigrants coming across the border. Last I heard, not one MSM agency is carring it.

I have talked here about the financial impact of illegal immigrants driving without insurance, loading up the emergency rooms, filling the public schools and all the other burdens that is put on legal citizens, but lets see what the current cost is for fighting this fire:

Total Fire Personnel: 1,164 (214 CDF)
Fire crews: 14 (9 CDF)
Engines: 176 (15 CDF)
Airtankers: 6 CDF
Helicopters: 6
Dozers: 6 (3 CDF)
Water tenders: 13
Costs to date: $1.1 million (and growing fast)

This is the bad part. There are 3 factors that contribute to the spread rate of a wildland fire:

1. Topography- Basically, the "Lay of the land"

2. The Fuel Load- Basically the growth and moisture content

3. The Weather- Out of these three factors, the weather contributes the most, and right now, our weather is extremely conducive to fast fire spread; see below:

Weather
Current Wind Conditions: 8 mph
Current Temperature: 95 degrees
Current Humidity: 30 %
Forecasted Wind Conditions: 5-15 mph SE
Forecasted Temperature: 103 degrees
Forecasted Humidity: 21 %

I heard it suggested this morning on Rick Roberts talk show, that we send the bill to Mexico. Thats a laugh! That will NEVER happen.

Enjoy your coffee...

Email from RS, Clever analogy:

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to
visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into
complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned
with a large pot of coffee And an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic,
glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, Some exquisite
-telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: "If
you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving
behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only
the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.
Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most
cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we
drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, But you
consciously went for the best cups...and then you began eyeing each
other's cup.

Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in
society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and
the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of Life we
live. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the
coffee God has provided us."

God brews the coffee, not the cups..........enjoy your coffee.

Rome talks fail to agree on cease-fire

Jul. 26, 2006 15:37 Updated Jul. 26, 2006 17:18

By ASSOCIATED PRESS
ROME

US, European and Arab officials held crisis talks on Lebanon Wednesday, but failed to agree on an immediate plan to force an end to the fighting between Israel and Hizbullah guerrillas.

By "failing" to agree, the international community of leaders are basically in accord with Israel's actions.

Although officials called for an end to the violence, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said any cease-fire must be "sustainable" and that there could be "no return to the status quo ante."

This means the destruction of Hezbollah.

United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan called for the formation of a multinational force to help Lebanon assert its authority and implement UN resolutions which would leave Hizbullah disarmed.

I guess he thinks Israel needs more targets to shoot at.

After listening to a dramatic appeal from Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Saniora for them to stop the killing, the officials said they had agreed on the need to deploy an international force under the aegis of the United Nations in southern Lebanon.

Send Kofi Anan... Hezbollah is looking for a few good Armani suits.

"Participants expressed their determination to work immediately to reach, with utmost urgency, a cease-fire that puts an end to the current violence and hostilities. The cease-fire must be lasting, permanent and sustainable," said Italian Foreign Minister Massimo D'Alema at the close of the meeting.

Again, the only way this is gonna happen is with the destruction of Hezbollah.

He said many of the participants in the meeting appealed for an immediate and unconditional truce.

Not gonna happen, it wouldn't be prudent.

Referring to the cease-fire, D'Alema said, "To obtain this objective, you must exercise pressure on all parties involved, directly and indirectly, on who can exercise influence on Hizbullah and on Israel."

The only influence we should be asserting on Israel is to step it up. take it to the next level.

"We asked Israel for maximum restraint" to respect civilians and infrastructure, he said.

OK, it's no wonder why the French headbutted the Italians...

Insiders selling NYT Company shares Source

Barron’s reports that insiders at the New York Times Company are selling their shares:

...company insiders including: Robert H. Eoff and P. Steven Ainsley, both group presidents; publisher Richard H. Gilman; vice president Catherine J. Mathis; and director Cathy J. Sulzberger. Since January, ... have sold a total of 8,800 shares for a total of $232,200.

”[I]t obviously seems that insiders do not expect a surge anytime soon,” Moreland notes.

Michael Painchaud also points out that “the historical insider-sale-to-purchase ratio [at New York Times] is very high, relative to other companies. Heavy net-selling is the norm here, and insiders have been very correct” in selling New York Times shares during the first half of the year as the price slid.

Meanwhile, long-term value investors Morgan Stanley and Fidelity are buying on weakness, adding to their holdings of class A shares. Of course, Class B shares, held by the Sulzberger/Ochs family, control the election of the Board of Directors, so a hostile takeover is unlikely. But as Rosslyn Smith has astutely pointed-out, a number of interesting scenarios are conceivable. Morgan Stanley and Fidelity are both renowned for their investment acumen.

Harlem to Clinton: you're ruining us

Gentrification since former president moved in sees rents rise by 100 per cent, forcing poor black families out.

By Nicholas Wapshott in New York
Published: 23 July 2006
Source

(gentrification:
the process of renewal and rebuilding accompanying the influx of middle-class or affluent people into deteriorating areas that often displaces earlier usually poorer residents).
(I had to look it up).

Bill Clinton's decision to site his office in the largely black Manhattan neighbourhood of Harlem, as a gesture of solidarity with African-Americans, appears to have backfired.

Dozens of angry blacks demonstrated last week outside the building that houses the former president's staff, claiming that his move had led to the gentrification of the area and increased the price of homes beyond their reach.

Mr Clinton's empathy with black Americans is well known. His humble family circumstances, as a penniless white boy raised among poor blacks in rural Arkansas, gave him a rare insight into the African-American community. It led to his being dubbed "Bubba", a term of affection among impoverished Southerners, and, without irony, "America's first black President".

But his move to Harlem, known as the Black Capital of America, has had unintended consequences. The protest march by 40 mainly elderly people to 125th Street was organised by the Harlem Tenants Council to protest at property prices, which have rocketed since Mr Clinton moved in.

IKA's Roll

There is a new roll that has hit the Gawfer site known as IKA's Roll. IKA's Roll started out as 'Gawfer's Neighborhood' and represents the sites I visit on a regular basis, so in essence it's not new at all.

The meaning of IKA's Roll:
Anyone who has spent more that just a glance on this blog will know that I served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate (Jet Mechanic), and that I like the Navy. A lot. Hence the nickname 'Squid' that some people like JJ, Texas Fred, Cary, Gunz, and others have dubbed me.

And if you've read some of my posts and comments both here and on my favorite blogs, you'll have discovered that I was stationed on Okinawa, JA. (I say 'on' because Okinawa is a rock about 67 miles long, and 25 miles wide at it widest point, located some 900 miles south of Mainland Japan, and is stuck between the Pacific Ocean on the east, and the South China Sea on the west), but I digress.

While stationed there, I developed a certain fondness for sushi. All kinds of sushi. And, 'If you knew sushi like I know sushi, then you'd like sushi too'. HA! Anyway, the word IKA (ee-kah) in Japanese means Squid. Hence the name IKA's Roll.

If you'd like to find yourself on IKA's Roll, and would like to provide this lovely lady a seat on your blog, you must first paste IKA'sCODE in your template, then let me know in the comments, and if I like you, I'll add you to it. The roll is active, and updates to the most recent post. Hat Tip once again to TexasFred for helping this code challenged Squid put this Roll together.

ACLU and Westboro Hate Cult Challenge Missouri Protest Ban

Hat Tip : StoptheACLU

by Jay on 07-22-06 @ 6:15 pm
Filed under ACLU, War On Terror, News

Once again we come to the debate over whether we should limit speech that infringes upon the rights of others. I have expressed how I feel about this determined hate cult before, so suffice it to say I think they are ignorant and filled with hate. They are deranged cultists. They think that dead soldiers in a war against terror is punishment from God for America tolerating gays. Their ignorance infringes upon the rights of these fallen heroes’ family and friends to peacefully assemble and mourn their loved ones. As much as I hate what they say, I do think they have the right to say it. However, since it infringes upon the rights of others I have no problem putting limits on when and where they may do so.

Here’s the latest story on two unhinged groups teaming together.

A Kansas church group that routinely protests at military funerals across the country filed a suit in federal court Friday, claiming the Missouri law banning such pickets infringed on the members’ religious freedoms and right to free speech.

Missouri’s law bans picketing and protests “in front of or about” any church, cemetery or funeral establishment from an hour before a funeral begins until an hour after it ends. A number of other state laws and a federal law, signed in May by President Bush, bar such protests within a certain distance from a cemetery or funeral.

The American Civil Liberties Union filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Jefferson City. It will test lawmakers’ ability to target the Rev. Fred Phelps and his Westboro Baptist Church, constitutional scholars say.

“I told the nation as each state went after these laws that if the day came that they got in our way, that we would sue them,” said Phelps’ daughter, Shirley Phelps-Roper, the lead plaintiff and a spokeswoman for the Topeka-based church. “At this hour, the wrath of God is pouring out on this country.”

The church claims God is allowing soldiers, coal miners and others to be killed because the United States tolerates homosexuals. Westboro Baptist has outraged mourning communities across the U.S. by showing up at soldiers’ funerals with signs that read “God Hates Fags.”
In the lawsuit, the ACLU claims the wording of Missouri’s ban, which restricts protests “about” any funeral establishment, seeks to limit the group’s free speech based on the content of its message.

Funny, seems to me Phelps-Roper has climbed into bed with the enemy she so vehemently protests against. This truly does expose who and what they are and what they represent.

Global warming is here!

Mrs. Bushwack's lesson Reposted with permission

This post was written by Mrs. Bushwhack, who is currently serving as Clergy in her local Church, and posted by my friend Mr. Bushwhack a little over a month ago. And in light of today's current events in the middle east, I thought it would be helpful in gaining perspective. Thanks Bushy, for allowing me to repost it.

POST:
My wife and I had a conversation last night that started out with my usual rant on the Muslim religion. She enlightened me on a few things and I asked her to write it down and I’d post it for discussion. Here it is.

I am a firm believer that there are spiritual principals behind events in our world. I’m not a “devil behind every bush” type of person. However, sometimes in order to understand the present we must look to the past, to elements of faith and belief in a sovereign God. This is just the case with what is going on today with extreme Islamics. Many people do not understand just where the religion of Islam came from and why it is so similar yet so different from Judaism or Christianity. It is time for a Biblical history lesson found in Genesis.

Long before Christ, God spoke to Abraham and established a covenant with Him. Basically, “I will be your God and you will be my people.” God promised to bless Abraham with much “seed” or descendants. However, at the time he did not have a son. Even though Abraham and Sarah were very old, God promised a nation would arise from “the promised seed.” Now just like most people, Abraham and Sarah thought God was taking too long; so Sarah stepped in to hurry up the process. She let Abraham sleep with her handmaid, Hagar. Hagar became pregnant and Sarah was now angered. She sent Hagar away, to roam in the desert. The unborn child was Ishmael. While in the desert the Lord sent a messenger to Hagar, telling her to return to Abraham and also saying some things about her unborn child. God promised to make him a nation and told a little about his character, “He will be a wild donkey of a man, He will be against everyone and everyone will be against him. He will attack all his brothers.” GENESIS 16:12 Hagar returned and gave birth to Ishmael.

When Abraham was 86 years old, Ishmael WAS the first born of Abraham, but he was not the promised one of God. However, God did say to Hagar, Ishmael’s mother, that her son would become a nation and have many descendants. The lines of Ishmael, his 12 sons, were the leaders of the ARAB nations.
Ok, so what about God’s promise to Abraham? When Abraham was 96 years old God gave instructions for keeping the agreement between them. A sign of the covenant, the promise of numerous seed, would be circumcision. Then when Abraham was 100 years old, Isaac was born. And he circumcised him just as the Lord had instructed. Isaac was the father of the 12 tribes of Israel.

Ishmael was not part of the covenant with God, he was uncircumcised, and he was destined to lead a life of strife, as proclaimed at his birth, and be at war with his brothers, the covenant people, the circumcised, and the promised nation of Israel. Since Ishmael was the first born of Abraham, Islamic people consider him the promised one, a prophet of God. In Islamic tradition it was Ishmael that was laid on the altar for sacrifice, not Isaac. Mecca is the place in the desert where Hagar fled when she was pregnant with Ishmael. Therefore, it is holy. The Islamic religion is a flipped or opposite of the Hebrew tradition. Ishmael takes the “hero” role and Isaac is the outcast. Islam is a perversion of the covenant with God.

So what does that mean? Well for people of faith, we know that there are consequences for disobedience / lack of faith in God. This lack of faith in God set the stage for the rise of Islam. From the line of Ishmael the Islamic faith arose. Ishmael was the “Bastard” child, the one that was a constant reminder of disobedience, the total opposite of what God had in mind for Abraham, father of the nation of Israel. And that is evident in what is proclaimed by God at his birth. “He will be a wild donkey of a man, He will be against everyone and everyone will be against him. He will attack all his brothers.” GENESIS 16:12 His descendants today, the Arab nations, the Muslims, are in constant turmoil, in short terrorists! Doomed to forever war against the covenant people, Israel as well as all their allies. This war on terror is not just a physical war, but a spiritual one as well that had its beginnings 1000’s of years ago! Please read the story of Abraham for yourself (Genesis 16-22), and may your eyes be opened to the spiritual side of the war with terror.

Pray for our nations, leaders as well as the troops. May God grant America victory!

See I told you she knew her stuff.
I love that line in there “He will be a wild donkey of a man” I knew they were a bunch of asses.

When I was a young lad of about 4 or 5, I went into the kitchen one afternoon while my mom was cooking dinner. I noticed some interesting activity happening on the stove top, so I went to investigate. When my mom saw me getting close, she scolded me and told me not to put my hand on top of the stove, because I'd get burned. I thought to myself 'burn hand. Yeah, I believe my mom'.

But when my mom turned away to open the refrigerator, I put my hand onto the stove and received 2nd and 3rd degree burns. You say what an idiot I was. Yep, I'd agree. But it was at that moment in time I went from 'believing' to 'knowing'.

The bible has been around for quite a while now, and has told us several times and in several different ways what this world is all about, past, present, and future. And there are some of us that sit back and say 'yeah, I believe it'. Well, In my humble opinion, this is clear evidence right before our eyes that what the bible says is true, and I've gone from 'believing' to 'knowing'.

How 'bout you?

Hooray for Michigan State University (The Spartans) and Professor Wichman!!!

Hat Tip: Koffeehound

Well, what do we have here. Looks like a small case of some people being able to dish it out, but not take it. Let's start at the top. The story begins at Michigan State University with a mechanical engineering professor named Indrek Wichman.

Wichman sent an e-mail to the Muslim Student's Association. The e-mail was in response to the students' protest of the Danish cartoons that portrayed the Prophet Muhammad as a terrorist. The group had complained the cartoons were "hate speech."

Enter Professor Wichman. In his e-mail, he said the following: Source

Dear Moslem Association:

As a professor of Mechanical Engineering here at MSU I intend to protest your protest. I am offended not by cartoons, but by more mundane things like beheadings of civilians, cowardly attacks on public buildings, suicide murders, murders of Catholic priests (the latest in Turkey!), burnings of Christian churches, the continued persecution of Coptic Christians in Egypt, the imposition of Sharia law on non-Muslims, the rapes of Scandinavian girls and women (called "whores" in your culture), the murder of film directors in Holland, and the rioting and looting in Paris France.

This is what offends me, a soft-spoken person and academic, and many, many, many of my colleagues. I counsel you dissatisfied, aggressive, brutal, and uncivilized slave-trading Moslems to be very aware of this as you proceeded with your infantile "protests." If you do not like the values of the West — see the 1st Amendment — you are free to leave.

I hope for God's sake that most of you choose that option.

Please return to your ancestral homelands and build them up yourselves instead of troubling Americans.

Cordially,

I. S. Wichman, Professor of Mechanical Engineering

AWOL... or as the Navy and Marines say U.A.

I'd first like to apologize to my friends and readers for flying below the radar for the last week or so. I've been commenting on different blogs, and doing some background work on Gawfer, but haven't posted anything of late, so here we go.

This morning on the way to the office, I stopped at Ralph’s Grocery store in Lake Forest, CA to pick up a couple of items for breakfast. I usually drive a few extra minutes to patronize the local Stator Brothers, but I was a little pinched for time.

As I was walking out of the store, I noticed an employee of foreign descent preparing to raise the United States Flag. Now if you haven't noticed, I like our flag... A lot! It means more to me than simply some identifying symbol of another country on this planet.

So when I saw the flag she was getting ready to fly, resting on the ground and some near by bushes, I got just a little upset... and did the only thing I knew to do. I walked over, picked up the flag and told her "The Flag Does Not Touch The Ground". Not quite understanding what I said, she just smiled at me. So I said, just a little louder (volume helps with understanding you see), "THIS IS MY FLAG, AND IT DOES NOT TOUCH THE GROUND", and held it up until she raised it high enough to fly. I then turned, walked politely to my car, and drove off.

I find that in this day in age, most young people, and certainly people of foreign descent do not have any idea what the accepted flag protocol is, and it bothers the heck outa me! The store Manager IMHO, should have sent someone who knew the proper procedures to do that task, or do it himself.

Shame on you Ralph’s!

Background Contest

OK,

This has little to do with politics, the war, Israel, or North Korea, but important to me non the less.

If you are a frequent visitor of Gawfer, you've seen some backrounds I've been trying out.

I've had differing comments of each, so lets get your opinion of them lined up side by side (ok, one on top of the other).

Here they are in no particular order:

Ya'll know I served in the United States Navy, So here's the Branch;

And while in the Navy, the last Squadron I was attached to was VP-91, hence the patch

Here's a recruiting poster for WWII, kinda fun

And then Old Glory. Nothing more needs to be said about this beauty.

Tell me what you think...

Ben Stein's Last Article for His Newspaper Column

Email I received this morning from RS. Thanks bud, this really is very meaningful.

For many years Ben Stein has written a biweekly column for the online website called "Monday Night At Morton's." (Morton's is a famous chain of steakhouses known to be frequented by movie stars and famous people from around the globe.) Now, Ben is terminating the column to move on to other things in his life. Reading his final column is worth a few minutes of your time.

How Can Someone Who Lives in Insane Luxury Be a Star in Today's World? As I begin to write this, I "slug" it, as we writers say, which means I put a heading on top of the document to identify it. This heading is "eonlineFINAL," and it gives me a shiver to write it. I have been doing this column for so long that I cannot even recall when I started. I loved writing this column so much for so long I came to believe it would never end. It worked well for a long time, but gradually, my changing as a person and the world's change have overtaken it.

On a small scale, Morton's, while better than ever, no longer attracts as many stars as it used to. It still brings in the rich people in droves and definitely some stars. I saw Samuel L. Jackson there a few days ago, and we had a nice visit, and right before that, I saw and had a splendid talk with Warren Beatty in an elevator, in which we agreed that Splendor in the Grass was a super movie. But Morton's is not the star galaxy it once was, though it probably will be again.

Beyond that, a bigger change has happened. I no longer think Hollywood stars are terribly important. They are uniformly pleasant, friendly people, and they treat me better than I deserve to be treated. But a man or woman who makes a huge wage for memorizing lines and reciting them in front of a camera is no longer my idea of a shining star we should all look up to.

How can a man or woman who makes an eight-figure wage and lives in insane luxury really be a star in today's world, if by a "star" we mean someone bright and powerful and attractive as a role model? Real stars are not riding around in the backs of limousines or in Porsches or getting trained in yoga or Pilates and eating only raw fruit while they have Vietnamese girls do their nails. They can be interesting, nice people, but they are not heroes to me any longer.

A real star is the soldier of the 4th Infantry Division who poked his head into a hole on a farm near Tikrit, Iraq. He could have been met by a bomb or a hail of AK-47 bullets. Instead, he faced an abject Saddam Hussein and the gratitude of all of the decent people of the world.

A real star is the U.S. soldier who was sent to disarm a bomb next to a road north of Baghdad. He approached it, the bomb went off and killed him.

A real star, the kind who haunts my memory night and day, is the U.S. soldier in Baghdad who saw a little girl playing with a piece of unexploded ordnance on a street near where he was guarding a station. He pushed her aside and threw himself on it just as it exploded. He left a family desolate in California and a little girl alive in Baghdad.

The stars who deserve media attention are not the ones who have lavish weddings on TV but the ones who patrol the streets of Mosul even after two of their buddies were murdered and their bodies battered and stripped for the sin of trying to protect Iraqis from terrorists.

We put couples with incomes of $100 million a year on the covers of our magazines. The noncoms and officers who barely scrape by on military pay but stand on guard in Afghanistan and Iraq and on ships and in submarines and near the Arctic Circle are anonymous as they live and die.

I am no longer comfortable being a part of the system that has such poor values, and I do not want to perpetuate those values by pretending that who is eating at Morton's is a big subject.
There are plenty of other stars in the American firmament....the police men and women who go off on patrol and have no idea if they will return alive; the orderlies and paramedics who bring in people who have been in terrible accidents and prepare them for surgery; the teachers and nurses who throw their whole spirits into caring for autistic children; the kind men and women who work in hospices and in cancer wards.

Think of each and every fireman who was running up the stairs at the World Trade Center as the towers began to collapse. Now you have my idea of a real hero. We are not responsible for the operation of the universe, and what happens to us is not terribly important. God is real, not a fiction; and when we turn over our lives to Him, He takes far better care of us than we could ever do for ourselves. In a word, we make ourselves sane when we fire ourselves as the directors of the movie of our lives and turn the power over to Him.

I came to realize that life lived to help others is the only one that matters. This is my highest and best use as a human. I can put it another way. Years ago, I realized I could never be as great an actor as Olivier or as good a comic as Steve Martin....or Martin Mull or Fred Willard--or as good an economist as Samuelson or Friedman or as good a writer as Fitzgerald. Or even remotely close to any of them. But I could be a devoted father to my son, husband to my wife and, above all, a good son to the parents who had done so much for me. This came to be my main task in life. I did it moderately well with my son, pretty well with my wife and well indeed with my parents (with my sister's help). I cared for and paid attention to them in their declining years. I stayed with my father as he got sick, went into extremis and then into a coma, and then entered immortality with my sister and me reading him the Psalms.

This was the only point at which my life touched the lives of the soldiers in Iraq or the firefighters in New York. I came to realize that life lived to help others is the only one that matters and that it is my duty, in return for the lavish life God has devolved upon me, to help others He has placed in my path. This is my highest and best use as a human.

Faith is not so much believing that God can. It is knowing that God will.

NEW LOGO BACKGROUND

Some of you may be wondering what the heck I did to my background, so here's a brief explanation:

After serving three years active duty as regular USN, two and a half years of it on Okinawa, JA, I returned Stateside to complete my enlistment as USNR. I was attached to Squadron VP-91, where I drilled 1 weekend a month, and 2 weeks a year.

I had the opportunity to fly with the squadron as 2nd Mech and thoroughly enjoyed it. The patch that is the background of my page was our official Squadron patch, and could be found on most all flight suits and jackets.

I thought I'd honor the Squadron by flying the colors for a while, a little nostalgia for me I guess.

Darrell Scott Testimony Before the subcommittee on crime of the House Judiciary Commitee, May 27, 1999

This testimony occured over seven years ago, but after receiving the associated chain email again, I felt posting it would be very appropiate in light of where we are now as a Country, and what is trying to be accomplished by the ACLU. As with any tragic event, it doesn't take long for this Country to forget the "Lessons Learned", and to return to status quo.

On Thursday, Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton, Colorado, was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee's subcommittee. What he said to our national leaders during this special session of Congress was painfully truthful. They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well. It needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every sociologist, every psychologist, and every so-called expert! These courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying in the wilderness. The following is a portion of the transcript:

"Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers.

"The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain's heart.

"In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA - because I don't believe that they are responsible for my daughter's death. Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel's murder I would be their strongest opponent.

"I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy-it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. "I wrote a poem just four nights ago that expresses my feelings best. This was written way before I knew I would be speaking here today:

Your laws ignore our deepest needs, Your words are empty air. You've stripped away our heritage, You've outlawed simple prayer. Now gunshots fill our classrooms, And precious children die. You seek for answers everywhere, And ask the question "Why?" You regulate restrictive laws, Through legislative creed. And yet you fail to understand, That God is what we need!

"Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, soul, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and reek havoc. Spiritual presences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation's history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact. What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine's tragedy occurs - politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws. "Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our own hearts. Political posturing and restrictive legislation are not the answers. The young people of our nation hold the key. There is a spiritual awakening taking place that will not be squelched! We do not need more religion. We do not need more gaudy television evangelists spewing out verbal religious garbage. We do not need more million dollar church buildings built while people with basic needs are being ignored. We do need a change of heart and a humble acknowledgment that this nation was founded on the principle of simple trust in God!

"As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before his very eyes-He did not hesitate to pray in school. I defy any law or politician to deny him that right! I challenge every young person in America, and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him. To those of you who would point your finger at the NRA - I give to you a sincere challenge. Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone! My daughter's death will not be in vain! The young people of this country will not allow that to happen!"

Remind us, oh Lord, of our past mistakes, and help us to do better in the future!

California employers may be sued if they hire illegal aliens

Sources Here, and Here

LOS ANGELES June 27, 2006 1:11pm

• Lawsuits will seek damages suffered by law-abiding businesses

• First time this has been tried in U.S. Businesses that knowingly hire illegal aliens may find themselves on the wrong end of a lawsuit as early as this summer.

David Klehm, an Orange County attorney, says he will represent law-abiding firms which have suffered economic damage as a result of their competitors using cheap labor. He says the first suits could be filed this summer.

"This has never been done before. This is the first time anyone in the country has actually used state civil law to prosecute employers of illegal aliens," Mr. Klehm says. "We're hoping … this will be a model for other states across the country."

((Listen to a CVBT interview with Mr. Klehm by click on the link below.))

Mr Klehm says the lawsuits will seek restitution, damages and market protections on behalf of small and medium-sized business owners.

"Honest business owners and hard-working Americans are the forgotten victims of unenforced laws against illegal immigration," says Mr. Klehm.

According to Mr. Klehm, honest California businesses have lost billions of dollars over the years as a result of being undercut by competitors that employ illegal aliens. Under state law, they are entitled to compensation, he says.

"For some of our clients, their only choice is to file a lawsuit or file bankruptcy papers," says Mr. Klehm. "People who obey the law should not be forced into bankruptcy by those who don't."

America must unite: Crosspost

This is an excellent article written by My daily Rant, and can be found Here.

It is extremely difficult to fight a war with the knowledge that if captured you will be tortured and beheaded, your remains desecrated beyond recognition. The difficulty is exacerbated with the knowledge that you have no idea of who it is you are even fighting, what specific political arm of what specific military insurgent organization or if they are simply people wanting only to kill you. When the soldier has knowledge that they should save the last bullet for themselves if caught in that situation, this is not a war, but an armed force against uncontrolled murderers.
The heads of state we are fighting are non-existent, ghosts hiding in the night sending audio and video message though Arabic television affiliates. We are not able to negotiate anything with a ghost, they are not of this earth, they exist on another plane altogether, a plane of death and destruction with no thoughts of give and take, which is required in wartime.

They have no thoughts of protecting their fellow countrymen for that does not exist either, they have no defined country, their country exists of their own choosing within their own mind. They only concern themselves with their own hatred against someone they feel is their enemy only because that nation prospers and succeeds when their own life is filled with devastation.

There was a time within our own history when soldiers of the 7th Calvary lead by a flamboyant George Armstrong Custer fought a war with similar results, total annihilation, their remains found by fellow soldiers were mutilated and desecrated beyond recognition, they were buried where they lay, most in unmarked graves only to be investigated a hundred years later.

Our nation was outraged, a hatred and furor became the common mindset among Americans and we persevered to the eventual destruction of an entire Indian nation, one we should have made peace with in the beginning, but we did not and history was our judge,

Where is that outrage today among our countrymen, where is the battle cry of revenge to make them pay for the desecration of our soldiers, instead we have media outlets printing national secrets, people protesting the events of our country and others spitting on our returning soldiers. We have individuals crying this is not a war, but a Crusade, we did not make it a crusade in fact, our politicians did everything possible to avoid that term, the enemy created the illusion of a crusade, they did so by calling it that, if that is truly the case and it is a crusade, not against religion but a crusade against terrorism then by God we need to fight it as such.

We need less whiners, less criers, name calling and passing the blame, we need more outrage against an enemy that has no respect for the sanctity of life or death, we need a nation united against a common enemy whose only desire is the total destruction of our democracy, of what our country stand for.

It matters not if you support George W. Bush or you hate him, if you feel his policies are insane or that they are right on the money, what matters is he is our President, we elected him through our democratic process that has stood the test of time and whether you agree or not, he is our President.

Yes, we need changes, we need more than changes we need a Ronald Reagan now more than ever, he would not have stood for this, he would have had federal Marshalls take the publishers and reporters of the Times into custody and worked to unite the people of America, the land he loved more than life. What we do have is a President who has dedicated himself to a fight not against tyranny or foreign rule, but against the total destruction of our way of life, America, what we are, what we stand for and by God we need to support him and whomever follows in his footsteps, for this war will not go away simply by pulling our military our of their country. It will go on, Americans will perish and they will continue to do so as long as people as bin Laden, the Taliban and others want to destroy our way of life.

We need a united front against a multi-united enemy and we need to fight it with every ounce of our strength, our support, our prayers and our resources. Most of all, we need to fight it as a united America and we need to do it now.

North Korea test launched a missile early Wednesday morning that landed in the Sea of Japan, Japanese media reported.

North Korea launched the missile at 0332 Japan Time and it crashed into the Sea of Japan several minutes later, public broadcaster NHK reported.

NHK said Japanese government officials were trying to determine whether the missile was a long-range ballistic missile that had been readied for launch recently, or whether it was a different missile.

North Korea had been believed to be preparing a test launch of its Taepodong 2 missile, which is believed able to reach parts of the United States.

Officials were not immediately available to confirm the report.

OK, Boys and Girls, this is where things get dicey.

WASHINGTON — North Korea vowed on Monday to respond with an "annihilating" nuclear strike if it is attacked pre-emptively by the United States
See story Here

Yesterday they threaten us with an "annihilating" nuclear strike, today they launch a missle into the Sea of Japan.
Well President Bush, what's our choices now? Is this a calculated move to bring them back in the game, or are they ready to "get after it" in an all out nuclear war?
Do we act pre-emptively, and dismantle there armament, or wait until they fire another shot 'across our bow' in a challenge?

Personally, I think it's time to take the toys away from that child and spank his butt... HARD!

Update: A second missle has been fired!!! Two missle’s have been fired according to Norad!
Reports are coming in….Drudge Report has the siren up. The story is developing that North Korea has test lauched a missle. More to come.
CNN reporting: It is not the long range weapon we have been monitoring.

Americans With No Abilities Act (AWNAA)

WASHINGTON, DC - Congress is considering sweeping legislation, which provides new benefits for many Americans. The Americans With No Abilities Act (AWNAA) is being hailed as a major legislation by advocates of the millions of Americans who lack any real skills or ambition.

"Roughly 50 percent of Americans do not possess the competence and drive necessary to carve out a meaningful role for themselves in society," said Barbara Boxer. "We can no longer stand by and allow People of Inability to be ridiculed and passed over. With this legislation, employers will no longer be able to grant special favors to a small group of workers, simply because they do a better job, or have some idea of what they are doing."

The President pointed to the success of the US Postal Service, which has a long-standing policy of providing opportunity without regard to performance. Approximately 74 percent of postal employees lack job skills, making this agency the single largest US employer of Persons of Inability.

Private sector industries with good records of nondiscrimination against the Inept include retail sales (72%), the airline industry (68%),and home improvement "warehouse" stores (65%) The DMV also has a great record of hiring Persons of Inability. (63%)

Under the Americans With No Abilities Act, more than 25 million "middle man" positions will be created, with important-sounding titles but little real responsibility, thus providing an illusory sense of purpose and performance.

Mandatory non-performance-based raises and promotions will be given, to guarantee upward mobility for even the most unremarkable employees. The legislation provides substantial tax breaks to corporations which maintain a significant level of Persons of Inability in middle positions, and gives a tax credit to small and medium businesses that agree to hire one clueless worker for every two talented hires.

Finally, the AWNA ACT contains tough new measures to make it more difficult to discriminate against the Non-abled, banning discriminatory iinterview questions such as "Do you have any goals for the future?" or "Do you have any skills or experience which relate to this job?"

"As a Non-abled person, I can't be expected to keep up with people who have something going for them," said Mary Lou Gertz, who lost her position as a lug-nut twister at the GM plant in Flint, MI due to her lack of notable job skills. "This new law should really help people like me." With the passage of this bill, Gertz and millions of other untalented citizens can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Said Senator Ted Kennedy, "It is our duty as lawmakers to provide each and every American citizen, regardless of his or her adequacy, with some sort of space to take up in this great nation."

HA!
Finally something I can take advantage of. I knew Teddy was OK. I think I'll take up my space up on the golf course... God and Robert know I'm NOT there to play the stupid game!

Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy issued a stay minutes ago, ordering that the memorial not be desecrated until all legal options are exhausted.

SCOTUS Justice Anthony Kennedy issued a stay minutes ago

The Supreme Court intervened Monday to save a large cross on city property in southern California.
A lower court judge had ordered the city of San Diego to remove the cross or be fined $5,000 a day.

Justice Anthony Kennedy, acting for the high court, issued a stay while supporters of the cross continue their legal fight.

Lawyers for San Diegans for the Mt. Soledad National War Memorial said in an appeal that they wanted to avoid the "destruction of this national treasure." And attorneys for the city said the cross was part of a broader memorial that was important to the community.

All Right! That's great news for this Fourth of July. I'll enjoy the win on this one for a while.

Movie Review: CARS

OK, I typically will NOT do this, (I hate when people 'talk up' a movie raising one's expectations only to have them dashed upon the rocks of disappointment), however, in this case I must congratulate PIXAR for such a splendid effort in the animating aspect of this movie. It is becoming evermore difficult to tell cartoons from real life these days. Some (not all) of the scenes were so detailed, I found myself accepting them as real, which is kinda weird.

I won't describe the plot or premise, I won't even mention the actors who lent their voices. But I will say this movie takes animation to a level never before attained, and albeit a small contribution, I am proud to say I worked on the new PIXAR facilities in Emeryville, CA during construction.

This movie is worth the $9.00 admission to the theatre, and will definitely find its way into our DVD collection.
